Testing a new lens I bought - Canon's cheapest, the EF 50mm f1.8. This was taken with it wide open, and the dept of field is so shallow that only the middle of his face is in focus. (Probably doesn't help that I was shooting handheld in low light, I'm amazed it's in focus at all given that the shutter speed was apparently 1/20?!)
Gonna need to get some practice with this one, but it should be great for portraits - and the twins are terribly under-photographed compared to their older brothers. (We've been a little busy since they arrived…)

I need to find and link a similar photo I have of Ollie, for comparison.
Ahh, here it is: http://www.flickr.com/photos/varrqnuht/2727550915/

]]>Teensy! This was just for a photo, while I was giving Lou one and removing the other. She wasn't jiggling them like teabags, honest.
]]>Clockwise: Sebastian, Oliver, William & Max.
]]>The twins came home on Saturday, one week after birth (which would have made them 37 weeks if they were still in the tummy!)
It turned out to be a very long day, due to needing to get things cleared with the paediatrician and the fact that we ended up waiting about 6 hours longer than expected for the paediatrician to arrive.
We made it home eventually though, and the first two nights have gone pretty smoothly.

]]>This is William! Born first at 8:55 AM - he's our "surprise" boy. Two obstetricians and several ultrasounds had led us all to believe that William was a girl - who we'd planned to call Willow! He weighs 2925g (about 6lb 7oz) but we don't know how long he is yet.
Both boys were put into cribs in the special care nursery after a few hours with mum, mostly just to monitor their breathing - it's not currently expected that they'll have to stay in there for too long.
